Course description

The garage runs on your time. Make every hour count.

Technicians and front of house are the people who make a garage work. You fix the cars, book the jobs, talk to the customers and get the vehicles back out of the door. Yet almost nobody explains how all that effort turns into a healthy business, or how much difference you make to it. A garage only really sells one thing: time. A part can sit on a shelf until next week. An hour in the workshop can’t. If it’s lost to waiting, searching, rework or a job that wasn’t set up properly, it’s gone for good.

This course shows you the part you play and how to get even better at it. The morning explains, in plain language, how the garage earns its money: what an hour costs, why the labour rate is what it is, and the handful of numbers that show how the workshop is doing. The afternoon is about lean working. You’ll learn the principles of quality management and Kaizen, plus simple problem-solving techniques for cutting out wasted time. Technicians will see how better preparation and fewer delays keep them productive. Front of house will see how good booking, clear quoting and confident explanations make sure the work gets paid for.

Andy Savva built his own garage around the people in it. This course passes that thinking on to you. You’ll go back with ideas you can use straight away, a clearer understanding of why they matter, and a way to make the workshop run better for you, your colleagues and your employer. Come with a colleague from the other side of the counter and you’ll go back speaking the same language.

"When I got back to the workshop I was straight away making little improvements that helped everybody be slightly more efficient. I would highly recommend any technician to do this course”
