Understand your default style and when it stops working.
Define what good looks like, in writing.
Run conversations that land instead of causing friction.
Tackle underperformance early, calmly, without losing good people.
Develop and keep the technicians you already have.
Set the standard every job gets measured against.
Same result every time, whoever is on the ramp.
Close the loop and fix causes, not symptoms.
You learned the trade properly, you built something, and then one day you found yourself responsible for a team you were never taught how to manage. So you lead by example, you work harder than anyone else in the building, and you end up being the bottleneck in your own business. When standards slip, it comes back to you. When someone leaves, it comes back to you.
This one-day course deals with both halves of that problem together, because they are the same problem. Leadership is how you set direction, communicate it and hold people to it. Quality management is what happens when nobody has ever written down what good actually looks like. You will work through your own leadership style and where it is costing you, how to set expectations people can genuinely meet, how to have the conversations you have been avoiding, and how to build the standards and checks that make quality a system rather than something that depends on you walking the workshop.
Andy Savva has run independent garages, built teams, and made most of these mistakes himself. The day is practical, built entirely around the independent garage, and you leave with things you can put in place the week you get back. Get this right and the change is not just a tidier workshop. It is a business that runs to a standard when you are not there, which is the first step towards owning a business rather than a job.
“I have been running an independent garage for over twenty years and so wish the option to tap into someone like Andy’s knowledge was around back in the early days.”
